Glossary of Terms
Each industry has jargon and terminology and the training industry is no different. We have developed the following for terms used in this submission:
RTO: Registered Training Organisation. An RTO is an organisation registered by a State or Territory recognition authority to deliver training and/or conduct assessments and issue nationally recognised qualifications in accordance with the Australian Quality Training Framework.
NAC: New Apprenticeship Centre. A NAC is an organisation that provides advice and assistance to apprentices, trainees and employers with training arrangements, training agreements and financial incentives under the New Apprenticeships system.
RPL/RCC: Recognition of Prior Learning & Recognition of Current Competencies. RPL/RCC is the acknowledgement of a person's skills, knowledge and competencies acquired through previous training, work or life experience, that may be used to grant status or credit in a subject or module.
TNA: Training Needs Analysis. TNA is the process of determining the most appropriate and suitable qualification and mix of units to meet the goals and objectives of the trainee and the organisation.
FUNDING & INCENTIVES: State and federal governments aim to work with industry, registered training organisations, community organisations and communities to create more and better jobs, and to continue skilling and upskilling the workforce. To achieve this, there is available funding to eligible organisations and individuals.
TRAINEE: A ‘trainee’ is the name given to any employee who undertakes a training qualification.
TRAINING PLAN: A plan developed for each trainee of training and assessment that forms part of a training contract for New Apprenticeships and is registered with the relevant State or Territory Training Authority.
TRAINING PACKAGE: An integrated set of nationally endorsed standards, guidelines and qualifications, for training, assessing and recognising people's skills.
